Ashley House sleeps a maximum of 28 persons and is suitable for holidays, overnight stays and training for all ages.
The accommodation consists of:
- A large day area /dining room - tables and chairs, and a carpetted seating area
- Kitchen facilities - gas cooker and integrated grill, large fridge, small chest freezer, microwave, toasters and dishwasher. Plus catering and dining equipment for 28 people
- Sleeping facilities -
- Area 1: ( dormitory) 5 rooms, each with 4 beds (2 sets of bunks), 20 beds in total. Plus 1 room with 2 single beds
- Area 2: ('leaders end') 1 room with 4 beds (2 sets of bunks), and 1 room with 2 single beds
- There is also a first aid room with 2 single beds for emergency use. In this room is a small lockable cupboard for medicines
- Each bunk bed has a mattress and 1 pillow. The mattresses on the bunkbeds are waterproof. They do not have a mattress cover.
- The single beds in areas 1 & 2, and the first aid room, have a mattress cover, a single duvet (no cover) and 2 pillows (no covers)
- Bed linen is NOT provided on any of the beds
- Visitors must bring their own bed linen or sleeping bags
- Washing facilities -
- Area 1: large bathroom with 3 washbasins, 3 toilets and 2 showers. There is also a separate wetroom with a toilet, shower and washbasin suitable for those with a disability. Guests need to bring their own towels etc
- Area 2: bathroom with 2 washbasins, 2 toilets and 1 shower
Lighting, cooking facilities, gas central heating and hot water are included in the fees.
Guests must supply:
- first aid equipment
- dishcloths
- teatowels and all towels / handtowels ( paper towels are provided)
- bin bags
- toilet rolls
- kitchen towel
NB. Due to the septic tank on site, guest must bring SOFT toilet roll only and use the washing up liquid provided. No bleach can be used at any time.
2025 update: we have had a full refurbishment of the children's sleeping area this year, including bunkbeds, new mattressess and storage. The Dormitory corridors and rooms have also been decorated
Upon arrival:
You will be met by your volunteer warden on arrival and shown the facilities and the site. The warden will also see you out at the end of your stay and go through the departure checklist with you. There is a Welcome Pack in the House where all the information is also available
Please note: you will need to confirm your ideal arrival and departure times on your ARRIVAL FORM. This needs to be with the Warden Manager 6 weeks before your visit to ensure wardens are in place.
Please note: wardens are volunteers and although they will try to accommodate your choice of arrival / departure times - on occassion this may need to be negotiated.
Utilities:
All water/sanitation is discharged into a holding tank so please do not leave water running for long periods.
Lighting, cooking facilities, gas central heating and hot water are included in the fees. All are metered so please be as economical as possible. Heating is pre-set and will come on automatically. Your warden will explain the systems to you on arrival.
