2nd Altrincham ( Broadheath ) Rainbows and Brownies rolled up their sleeves and did some gardening and other activities at the Broadheath Community Garden when we returned to meetings in September. The units have taken on responsibility for 3 beds in the garden – 2 raised planters and a sensory planter and we went down to clear out the weeds and fill the planters up with some winter bedding.
Broadheath Community Garden is a project run by the National Trust Volunteering and Community team at Dunham Massey. The site is a formerly neglected area behind 3 rows of houses in Broadheath . The National Trust together with community consultation created the garden in early 2022 and it now consists of six large allotment plots, a community garden area and a separate learning garden which is being cared for by Broadheath Primary School. Recent additions include some bug hotels and some colourful pebbles by the Rainbows and Brownies. We plan to have a number of meetings there over the course of the year to do more gardening and some fun outdoor stuff as well.
