Girlguiding Greater Manchester West - The Comfort Bag Scheme
The comfort bag scheme began in 2015, the bags are given to hospital visitors who have to stay overnight unexpectedly or patients who are admitted to hospital with nothing. Salford Royal Hospital, Wythenshawe Hospital, Trafford General, St Annes Hospice, Royal Bolton Hospital are some of the places we supply.
The bags contain:
- Hotel-sized toiletries (shower gel, hand soap/hand wash, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste and brushes, face wipes, hand cream, etc.)
- Combs, tissues, eye masks, earplugs
- Small notepads and pens/pencils
We are always looking for donations of the above items. If you would like to help make the bags, please note that they should be the size of a 12x8 sponge bag with a drawcord; plain material is preferred. If your unit wants to make some up and you need help doing this please contact Pat Mayle on GMWAwardsCommittee@gmail.com
The Comfort Bag Scheme has been adopted across the Girlguiding North West England and in many parts of the country.
